I just tried all of this and still don't have sound on my WinXP Pro machine. I have
an ASUS A7N8K as mentioned earlier. I can hear the motherboard pass the memory test
and . . . . 'now booting from operating system', but still no sound. After trying
these steps I did notice that my volume control on my players is not grayed out anymore.
While I was restarting I had all of my hardware try to reinstall while I was trying
to get the allmachine.inf installed. Should I unplug everything? I really don't know
what else to try.
