No, I don't think they are bad drives, I beleive that the problem is XP not recognizing
some drives as burners. I ran the Nero utilities, updated the aspi files, all to
no great help. I changed the register and that allowed XP to see them as burners,
but still not recognized, because the drive speeds don't show up in the record properties
as it would for a recognized drive. Some of the Nero programs were bundled with specific
computers or drives and will work not outside of the original setups. I tried to
get some new CD drivers from Driversguide.com, but the file was corrupt. I have 4
computers that I have been working with, with versions of 98, Home XP, XP Pro and
about 5 different versions of Nero. The one thing I found was that changing the drives
made the most difference. Out of 4 good CD Burners, Nero would see only one of the
drives and that was with a retail version of Nero. Win 98 seen all the drives because
the older drives came with drivers on floppy's, and when the drives are installed,
Win 98 asks for the drivers. I know this is a big issue with XP and Nero. Well, back
to the fire - Butch
