Synchronisation Annoyances

When I am connected to my office network, I synchronise work files and folders with
the office file server.

When I am on my home network, I'd like to only synchronise home files with my home
PC, but my notebook PC keeps trying to synchronise with the office file server.

When I am running a demo in front of a customer that involves using a network connection,
I really don't want to see my PC trying to synchronise every 15 minutes in the middle
of a presentation (even though scheduled synchronisation is turned-off).

I'd like to know how I can set Windows XP Pro to only synchronise when it is connected
to a named PC rather than every time that I have a LAN connection.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
