Ok, After spending over 8 hours on this issue I GAVE UP! Here is the solution, which sounds HORRIFIC, however it went very fast. Much faster if I would have just done this in the first place. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;886630 Do a repair of Windows xp, skip the first screan and select repair on the second screen after you accept the licensing. Re-install XPSP2 , go to windows updates and download. I honestly did this while cooking dinner, and TV. Sometimes you just have to walk away. Good Luck, at least it is a fix. DebbLR
