Has anyone found a fix for this? My computer is doing the same thing... mouse icon looks 'busy' after selecting shut down from the start menu, but the window of options does not appear for a couple of minutes. Once it does appear and I select 'shut down', the mouse icon is again 'busy' for a couple of minutes at the 'please wait' screen... and then it eventually shuts down. It has been suggested to me that I reload Windows XP. Is there any other way to solve this problem?
