Ok, well, let's look at it this way: What are the differences between booting cold and a soft reboot? To me it seems that the primary difference is that the computer doesn't power off on a soft boot and therefore some components may be retaining some information or behaviour from before the restart. The most obvious contenders here are RAM and the CMOS, yes? BG
