Are you able to access My Computer and My Documents from Safe Mode? If you can access it successfully from safe mode then it may mean that a program tried to add a tab to the Explorer window, or one of the view features associated with the explorer window may have become corrupt. You may also want to try downloading a freeware registry cleaner to try and correct the problem (assuming you can access the Internet to download one).
