This generic host problem only starts while a new HP All in One officejet is connected.
Disconnect the printer from the Dell 8400 computer and the problem stops.
The problem does not cause the computer to shut down as the Blaster worm will make
it do but the computer slows right down and minutes go by before it responds to a
command.
The printer will not print because this generic host comes up as soon as it is connected.
Drivers have been uninstalled and reinstalled but the problem keeps repeating. Interestingly
the computer is always connected online and as the HP technician is due in a few
days to try and overcome the problem I will suggest to try it offline. However HP
think it may be a hardware problem and will bring another printer to try.
If it is cured I will advise what was done.
