OK, I had the same annoyance but found a solution, hopefully it works for all of
you too. I made a shortcut on the desktop and pointed it to /windows/explorer.exe.
After its created, right click choose properties and fill in the following:
Target: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /e,c:\
Start in: <--make this line blank
Not sure if adding the /e,c:\ is really necessary but try it. Then click ok to finish
and double click to open. Now setup the way u want your view to look and click Tools,
Folder Options, View and uncheck the box "remember each folders view settings" followed
by Apply to All Folders button, and click ok. That should do it.. if still getting
problems then, after unchecking remember view settings click ok so explorer erases
any previous things and setup your view the way u want, click apply to all folders
and thats should do it (hopefully) otherwise play around with it.. good luck!
