Unfortunately this answer is to simplistic. I've read many microsoft explanations on how to accomplish this task and read many internet post, all to no avail. On older versions all you needed to do is right click, share, and specify a share name, password and extent of privileges and anyone with the password on your WORKGROUP could access the shared folder. With simple sharing, anyone can access your shared folder....no password. With simple sharing turned off, you need to specify the user that can access your share....another user ON THE SAME COMPUTER!!, with their name and logon password. How frustrating. Sharing is not easier with XP, and if you want to share with other WORKGROUP computers with password protection....well, it's a difficult task at best, if even possible. If anyone knows the answer, I and I'm sure Derek would like to know. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?
