Question about 'How do I make the background of desktop icon text transparent?'

Yep, this works. A demo screensaver I installed switched on the text background but left the option checked for "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop". (Baffling at first sight!) The problem was solved by unchecking it, clicking Apply, then checking it and clicking Apply again. The icon label background then became transparent again.
