XP OPERATING SYSTEM

NX9010 I would NOT try mixing the modules. Just take the 128Mb module out and put the 512 Mb module in its place. According to the above link your laptop will accept two 512 Mb modules. I think you'll find that the improvement from 128 to 512 Mb is what you are looking for. Boot times will be faster and installing the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service from Microsoft should speed up your shut-down time.
