After searching the web all over the place for this, was trying to undo a screwed
up install of wmp10 that refused to let me rollback or uninstall, I was able to rollback
to windows media player 9 with ccleaner, like someone upthread suggested.
Download and install ccleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com
Restart in safe mode.
After installing ccleaner, do a search for "wmp" in C:\Windows, make sure "search
hidden files and folders" is checked in "more advanced options".
Right click and "erase" the files wmp.dll, wmp.ocx, wmpasf.dll, wmpcd.dll, wmpcore.dll,
wmpdxm.dll, wmploc.dll, wmpshell.dll, wmpui.dll. You will get Windows file warnings,
just click cancel and yes each time. 2 of these files may not delete and that's fine.
Go to C:\Program Files and delete the windows media player folder.
Now try installing the older version of windows.
This will not uninstall windows media player 10 but it will let you install an older
version of windows media player.
