On two IBM ThinkPads, T series, one running XP SP1 and the other SP2, I've had the problem with the shading of the Start menu, a backward L, randomly staying on the screen. It is on top of all windows -- pretty annoying. The only way to get rid of it is to logoff. It disappears as soon as the Desktop turns B&W, but will reappear of I cancel the logoff. I have been unable to find any other person who has seen this problem. I think I have bypassed the problem by turning off Show shadings under menus in Control panel->System->Advanced->Performance options->Visual effects. Has anyone else seen this? Is there another fix? Vincent
