For the setup: You were right.. the router is with one computer.. its just that that 
computer is hard wired to it and I connect wirelessly.

Both machines run Win XP

I am pretty sure all the machines are visible?

I was actually looking for a VNC provider so thanks for that.. I may use that but 
for now I was going to use the Windows Remote Desktop.. even with the security risks.

So I still dont know why I cant connect both ways?  My computer seems much more protected 
than the other.. or harder to get into over the network.  I cant find any settings 
that would restrict that.  I also tried remotely connecting from a friends house 
tonight and it didnt go through.. i have the IP right so who knows whats goin on.
