They should be there, and visible, and the resolution comments are pure nonsense.
However, be aware that the folder structure in XP is very different than W9x to accomodate
for user accounts. There are multiple Desktop folders, yours, Admin, Default User,
All Users, each serves a distinct purpose. You should log into your account, and
save to your desktop, and you should be able to see them. Also make sure that you
have Show Desktop icons enabled. Right click on the Desktop, select Arrange Icons
by, and look for the checkmark next to Show Desktop icons.
