512MB of ram is about right for most XP users, will you see a huge increase in speed, probably not. I see a lot of posts about people being disappointed that adding Ram didn't seem to make that much difference. You might want to try tweaking XP a bit also. Some good XP Tweaking sites can be found on Google. XP has a lot of back ground services running, and many are not needed for the average user.
