Make sure you're signed in as an Administrator. Go into Contol Panel and select
QuickTime. The QuickTime settings box comes up. In the drop-down menu, select "File
Type Associations." Click "File Types," and go to the file you do not want QuickTime
to be the default viewer. For jpeg files, you have to go into the "Miscellaneous"
section by expanding it (clicking the plus sign), uncheck "JPEG image file," click
"Apply" and it's saved.
Now, also in the Contol Panel, go into Folder Options. Click the 3d tab - File Types.
Go down to "JPE" which are for files that have jpeg extensions. Click "Change"
and select the what app you want to view them with which will then be the default
viewer for jpeg files - ckick ok and close.
Last, go to the file/picture. Right click it, select "Open with" and again select
the app you want to view the pic with. Now, all of your jpeg files will open with
the app you chose and will have its icon.
