The white box type characters generally show that the font with which the document was created is not present on the computer being used to open it again. CD write problems can be caused by a multitude of thngs - speed - type of media - type and speed of drive - hardware problems etc. ....... but if it works on the CD-R try changing the make and speed of CD-RW (unless you're happy with CD-R now)
