This link will give you a good idea of Drive and Partition setup for the nbest performance and general use. Bear in mind that as the link says - what is good for one is not good for everyone so plan and decide the use and space requirements for YOU! The best speed is generally the faster rpm - but that is qualified by cost obviously. 7,200 rpm is pretty standard - 10,000 is better. Yes - you will need to basically start over again if you already have a working OS - deleting, partitioning and formatting. You 'could' do it with something like Partition Magic but I wouldn't recommend it for a a good system. Drive and Partitioning Strategy
