I'd consider using WMP or WinAmp for the MP3's and Media Player Classic with the 
K-Lite Codec Pack for video, and then mute the Classic Player. That way, all video 
will play in MPC without sound, with you MP3 playlist playing in the background through 
WMP/WinAmp. I don't think you can open more than one instance of WMP...
