Dell 5150, no sound when coming out of standby.

I'm a PC tech who has trouble shot this same problem on the same laptop, running XP SP2. I noticed that it was due to a conflict with the external USB wireless mouse. Remove the mouse, go back into standby and come back out .. and presto - Sound. Another thing I noticed it that when the sound is not working on the laptop's speaker, it IS available if you plug in a set of headphones. I did not find any help from Dell. Would appreciate others comments. Jami
