I have had this problem as well. I found the solution to my problem on another site
and will pass it on. It seems that if you turn on display icons for UPNP devices
in the network places folder (left side under network tasks) this problem happens
on a lot of systems. If you turn it off (click "hide icons for upnp devices" in the
network pllaces folder left side under network tasks) the problem disappears.
