Yes, I have the same problem. It does seem that windows xp is booting too fast that
it misses or loads the icons incorrectly, and its seems only when I boot windows
entirely.
Its fine if you log off, and re-log back in - and it loads fine. Usually I'll boot-up,
log in and then log off right away, and then re-log back in and it loads everything
fine.
Seems like when windows is booting up - so many tasks its doing at startup that it
misses a few task icons because its loading so many things at once at startup - so
many things that it loses a few startup icons at startup. I just log-off and relog
back in and it seems to be fine, since when relogin in its not doing soo many tasks
as it does from startup.
I'll try that program that delays a few startup programs and see if that solves my
problem - which seems like the same symptom.
