Go to this page for more switchs avaiable for the Win2K, WinXP and Win2K3 kernel (boot entry). I'd try to add a test-entry with the parameter /SOS /PAE /MAXMEM=4096. (4GB=4096MB, and /SOS is to display the RAM amount during boot, in a light-blue or gray screen.) Follow the link if you want more details on WinXP switches.
