I've had problems trying to remove WinXP, but I've found a pretty easy solution.
Check the maker of your hard drive. Most likely they will have a website with diagnostic
tools that can be loaded onto a floppy disk in case of emergencies. Once you download
the program, just place a disk in your floppy drive and doubleclick the executable
and your floppy disk will be formatted and the files will be loaded. Put the disk
in the drive of the computer you want rid of XP and reboot the system. The program
will boot up and you should find a formatting utility included somewhere within.
I know both Western Digital and Maxtor have these as I have downloaded them. Good
luck and I hope this works for you.
