My solution to the XPSP2 Pro slow loggin. Like many others, my system paused (apparently
doing nothing) for a long time right after entering the password while executing
wlnotify.dll. None of the prior suggestions helped.
My Dell I8200 has both a LAN and a WiFi network. Both have been used in the past
but fhe WiFi is active and the LAN cable connection is disconnected most of the time.
After I disabled the LAN connection the system booted normally --- without any long
pauses.
Hope this helps others to track down this on-going and terribly fustrating problem.
