This did the trick. I am running Asus A7N8X-E with AthlonXP3000+ Barton. Phoenix Tech Bios Rev 1008. Standby was fine until I did a recent "Windows update". Then, would continue to run all fans in standby mode. Fiddled with all the power setting without luck. Per this suggestion, noted that "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" in keyboard power management (in Devices Manager) was checked. Using a Logitech cordless keyboard and MX700 Duo. Unchecked it and everything was back to normal. Don't know how it got changed, but I certainly didn't do it, so I suspect may be related to some software update. Thanks for the suggestion, Aaron!
