re: Comment about 'Turn Off the PC-Speaker' Monday, September 5, 2005 at 4:06 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Kathryn Summers (1 messages posted) I have this same stupid problem with several of the windows default sounds (Windows startup and shutdown music, recycle bin, etc.) not playing and the pc volume slider causing the PC speaker to "beep" instead of the customary "ding" wave file. I have followed the registry advice listed above and reset the keys but still have not been to rectify the problem. Any other ideas? I am not wild about messing with my system BIOS or completly turning off the PC internal speaker. I feel like the more I monkey with it the more likely I am to really screw it up! Thanks all!
