This is a new laptop (Dell), with WinXP Pro. The only remaining icons are for McAfee Virus Scan and Adaware. After trying many things (and everything everyone else talked about), I finally tried to at least make my speaker icon appear by going to "Start>Control Panel>Sounds Speech and Audio Devices>Change the Speaker Settings>, and placing a check in the "Place volume icon in the taskbar". Once I do that ALL my icons return to the taskbar. This is a "workaround". Everytime I turn on my computer I have to do this as the check mark disappears from the above.
