First, thanks for responding to my call for help. Since I have a cable connection
I am always on and can connect to IE anytime I wish. I can also connect to any of
the programs that I have without a problem. McAfee is the only program that I have
set to automatically download and install their updated definitions. When I was
first notified that they had been unable to download them I tried to do it by opening
the Secuity Center and clicking on update. I got the same message about not being
able to connect and to check my internet connection. I tried some other programs
that I check for updates on and they were not able to connect either. I just did
what you suggested and after I typed in the ping www.mcafee.com it took a few seconds
and then it said "Ping request could not find host www.mcafee.com. Please check the
name and try again". I typed it in again and got the same results.
Thanks
