Then I remembered that several folks said to turn off the computer, leave the DSL modem on, and pull out the power plug from the socket. It sounded like voodoo, but I decided what the heck, I'm gonna shut down anyway, why not try it. I don't know which 'fix' worked, but I've been 'network connection unplugged message' free for 24 hours. (does this sound like an AA meeting?)
