The 5 gig partition was only used for my OS the rest of the drive for programs/apps and music. I found and deleted the original 98 OS files on my C drive using "clean up" and found and deleted the backed up 98 files (through XP) in the add/remove programs applet and got rid of that too. I managed to get 2.5 gigs of OS partition space back. Course I won't be able to revert back to 98 but who cares, all is working fine now. Thanks again.
