Hi all,

I've just upgraded my machine (new motherboard + trimmings) and thought I might try
to avoid the rigmarole of doing a full reformat, reinstall. Instead I booted from
the Windows CD and just chose to reinstall. Just to see whether it would work.

To my surprise pretty much everything works fine, with a couple of exceptions - Internet
Explorer and Media Centre. These only work in safe mode. In normal mode they simply
don't launch - no errors, but when I try to run them I just get the pointer-with-hourglass
for half a second, then nothing.

I normally use Firefox and Winamp instead, but I am a little worried that I can't
use the Windows Update site. Anyone have any suggestions, apart from reformat/reinstall?

Thanks a lot,
Richard
