Dual-display problems since the latest updates

After applying 8 Windows XP updates during the weekend, three out of the four users of dual-display VGA cards had to remove their video cards today and fall back to the onboard VGA on our Dell workstations. With the video card installed, the computer tries to boot, but the monitors stay in power-saving mode.

We've had dual-headed displays (with both displays from the same video card) in Windows XP for a while. I find it hard to believe that all three cards just failed at once! Did something happen in the recent updates that might be responsible for this problem? Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!
