I don't know anything about XP Media edition, but check in Help and Support. There's lots of info there.

I don't know why Pic and Fax Viewer would be 'permanently' saving every image you've ever looked at. Are you sure those aren't just in you temporary internet files? Each image on every web site you visit, is first downloaded to the TIF directory, so view them. Those should be cleared out regularly.
