Here's another vote for Firefox.
I personally think it's faster and more aesthetically pleasing than IE. And what
I like most is that Ffox gives you a lot of ability to set the control rules for
what programs get loaded onto your computer and run. If, like me, you set the rules
to be very strict, then it can be lot safer that IE. (But if you prefer more convenience,
and set the rules loosely, it won't be very much safer.) The important thing is that
it gives you the chance to decide.
Since it's free, why not go to www.mozilla.org, download it and give it a try?

P.S. IE In the last year or so, I haven't run into any web sites that didn't work
with Ffox just fine, including Microsoft for anything but Windows Update. Since
you have to keep a version of IE around for that purpose, if you encounter any site
that doesn't work with Ffox, you always have a backup way to get there.
