Generally speaking, if the computer comes on to the point where you can see the BIOS 
settings on the screen and the CPU heat sink fan is spinning, any power difficulties 
to other components would first cast doubt upon the power supply, not the motherboard.

So if the BIOS setup program is being displayed on the monitor and there is no power 
to the CDROM (no front LED, no drawer activity when the open drawer button is pressed), 
then try using a different power lead and Molex connector (the 1" wide white connector 
with four wires).
