Maybe I'm confused here. You have administative powers over the problem computer,
yes? And you can boot it into safe mode, right? So then open Task Manager. Can
you now use TM to open another program such as Internet Explorer, or to explore in
Windows Explorer, and not have the computer freeze up on you? If yes, then can you
connect to the internet (if need be, rebooting into safe mode with networking) and
access the web to run on the problem computer the on-line scans I mentioned in my
other post this AM? If yes, do so after completing the advance procedures I listed
also in that post.
