Hi people, I fixed a similar problem on my XP.
First, let me tell you how it has begun. Just after
an update from InstallShield, the pc has started to complain on shutdown about the
"dwwin.exe" and it's DLL. So, I lighted up some candles and spent a whole night praying
some obscure incantations, but it didn't help a lot. Thanks to someone in this forum,
I knew that the problem did not come from dwwin (which is just a kind of listener
& notifier).
I launched msconfig and unchecked everything in the "startup" list. After rebooting,
no problem anymore when logging out. I then had to check back some services. Fortunately
(and because I checked the most suspect stuffs first), I quickly found who was responsible
of that... It was the "Dell Quickset" program (my xp is running on a Dell Inspiron
6000 laptop). I won't tell you what I did then, because they may be some young readers
here, but you can trust me when I say it won't be a danger anymore.
I still wonder why it suddently started to be aggressive, it usually was a reliable
program. I can't figure out what happened.
bye.
