In running the scans on the infected computer, did you first disable (turn-off) its
system restore feature, empty its recycle bin, delete the temp files and temp internet
files for all user-accounts on the computer, delete the temp files in the Windows\Temp
folder, and delete the prefetch files in the Windows\prefetch folder? Did you
run the scans while in safe mode? Does your on-board AV program work while in safe
mode? If not, can you boot into safe mode with networking, connect to the internet
(with firewall activated), and get to an on-line scanning service?
Note: once you disable the system restore feature and run your scans, would be
a good idea then to engage the system restore feature and set another restore point.
