Tiffany, 128 MB of RAM is really not sufficient for WinXP. The PC will take a long
time to boot (esp. at 1.1 Ghz) , and then it will constantly have to be accessing
the pagefile (swapfile, on the hard drive) to use memory because there isn't enough
RAM. With only a modest few programs loading up with Windows (like Anti-virus, sound
mixer, weather program, etc) I generally use about 280 MB of RAM by the time all
the launch activity subsides. Then as soon as you do anything else (browser, email,
music program etc.), Windows has to juggle all your needs with so little RAM. It
won't be tolerable.
If you have an old Win CD, Upgrade version is the way to go. If not, OEM is the cheapest
way (it's cheap because it's intended to be shorter-lived).
