I can only speak about Firefox.
What is you choice selected in Firefox as the destination?
Ask every time
To Desktop
My Downloads
Other
These are you choices. What did you select?
That is unless you have download software loaded? You are not using one are you?
I have been using Firefox since it was ver 0.5 and it always placed the file where
I assigned to go.
