XP INFO XP CLEANUP
I use a 1000MHz (1·0GHz) PIII which originally had 256 MB SDRAM. I had to add another
256 MB of RAM to get anywhere with performance issues. 768 MB is better.
Drive speed (7,200 rev/min) and buffer size (8 MB) make a difference too.
New, flat, 80 wire screened IDE cables also improves matters.
Do a clean install with an XP SP2 CD rather than upgrade on top of an existing installation.
