In order to send data wirelessly, you must have a section of the radio spectrum on
which to transmit. WiFi uses a small chunk, and this chunk is divided into 11 channels
to allow you to have (in theory) up to 11 different wireless networks. Unfortunately,
only 3 are really usable--1, 6, and 11. You simply pick whichever one is the farthest
from existing networks, or if there are no other networks, whichever you want.
