Removing that Knowledge Base update is fairly straight-forward.
Open the Control Panel
Open "Add or Remove Programs"
Place a tick mark in the box at the top that says "Show Updates"
Scroll down the list of programs and updates until you find KB905749. Double check
you have selected ONLY this update to uninstall.
Click "uninstall" and follow the prompts. You will most likely get a serious looking
screen saying that most of your programs and system resources will not work if you
continue with the uninstall. There will be a list of those programs. Click through
this, authorizing the uninstall process to continue.
Reboot when prompted.
If you cannot find KB905749 in the list to uninstall, then you haven't got that update
in your system and the answer to your problems do not lie within this particular
fix. :(
