Ah yes, sorry about not mentioning Microsoft Update will continue to have a hissy
fit with this update uninstalled. I use the "notify only" option for MS Update, then
select "custom" every time I visit the update site. It still returns a big yellow
banner saying my system is missing a vital update, but I'd rather have access to
my system's internals.
Given that KB905749 mainly addresses a *local* vulnerability in PnP, I'll accept
the risk of removing it.
Slightly off topic... I've heard that MS is well aware that KB905749 has adversely
affected a LOT of Windows users. Let's hope they are busily rechecking their coding
on this one. If any MS reps are reading this, I'd be glad to provide whatever information
I can to help you get to the bottom of the issues with KB905749, if you haven't already
done so.
