re: Empty Device Manager How I fixed it (New Info) Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 2:36 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Sepulchre (1 messages posted) I was Having the same problem everyone else was, Empty Device manager (among other related problems..Slow Folders, context menus etc.) I tried All of the fixes listed here and none of them worked for me. Then one time when I was in Safe Mode, I decided to check device manager there. My devices showed up, and one other interesting thing. Under the system devices tree there were 2 instances of "PnP BIOS Extension", one of which had (!) indicating a conflict. I disabled and uninstalled the conflicted instance and Viola! Everything was fixed! Hope this helps some of you who have tried all the other fixes with no luck.
