I made this error when I installed my first XP. Along with adding RAM, I ultimately 
did a clean install to rid myself of ME. ME forever clutters XP until it is removed, 
at least in my experience.  For whatever reason, I could not remove all of MP without 
reformat.

While it can be done, but it requires familiarity with registry structure and bit 
by bit removal that is, IMO counterproductive and hazardous. 

I reserve the right to disagree on occasion ;o)
