Same here- except I am on day four now, and I CAN access the internet as long as
I disable the firewall. I have totally ruined my virus softwrae somehow- Norton
is acting even weirder then usual, they say UNINSTALL and REINSTALL but I can't uninstall
it. Norton is the least of my worries right now- I want my device manager back and
my network folder is still empty.
I am able to access the internet, even though my cox cable modem icon is no longer
there. But AOL won't work, when it starts I get errors.
In safe mode I can see EVERYTHING again- except in the network folder- the COX icon
is not there still, but in safe mode everything is listed in device manager.
In safe mode, I am also able to start and use AOL. I can use outlook express for
mail, too, but it isn't right to just leave my computer in this state of corruption,
especially since it is a very new computer- and I want things right.
I hate the thought of doing a system restore to factory status, I will lose so much
and as I said I only just got this one in May- so everything is the way I want it
in terms of what I have installed, my PSP, my tubes, graphics, everything- There
MUST be a fix for this!
The virus scanner shows no virus, and spy sweeper just finds some adware cookies,
but pop up windows are still coming up which never happened before.
There must be a way to explain the registry fix for the permissions, a little more
detailed, as I am uncertain if when we ADD a new group and user are in the same STEP
or in two steps, one after the other?????
Please someone- another bribe coming at 'cha! I promise a nice lil gift sent via
snail mail!
Thanks in advance!
